Shady Side understands the value of athletics extends far beyond the 玩ing field. We view athletics as an integral part of the educational experience for all students, because it teaches students how to persevere, how to work together, how to overcome adversity, how to win and lose with grace, how to make healthy choices – lessons that students can apply in every aspect of their lives.
Senior and 中学 students participate in physical education and athletics as part of the curriculum. 的 高级学校 fields 27 highly competitive varsity/prep teams in 16 sports for boys and girls, and boasts a rich championship history. Junior varsity and 中学 teams emphasize skill development and participation. Country Day and 初中 students have regular PE classes, and after-school offerings include athletic lessons, a Girls on the Run program, a coed cross country team, and boys' and girls' fifth grade basketball teams.
Shady Side students benefit from some of the region’s finest on-campus athletic facilities, including a turf stadium with lights, 曲棍球场, 游泳池, 体育馆, 草地上, tennis and squash courts.
Each year, a number of Shady Side Academy graduates go on to 玩 college athletics.
